One of the first things Bowser familiarizes himself with when he meets you is your scent. It's distinct. Something that tickles his nose. He can tell it's you without even looking. He finds himself matching it up to things around him. You smell like the flowers from the edge of the woods. You smell like brimstone from being in his kingdom so long. You smell like vanilla like the icing on his favorite treats. You smell like the inside of a bakery.
And this is all before he realizes he has a massive crush on you.
But after he realizes, it gets ten times worse. He craves your scent. Almost animalistically. It comforts him. Eases his anger. When you aren't around he'll sneakily grab at something you left behind, a scarf, a hat, acting like he's peeved that you left it laying in his castle, but he'll lose all tension as he sniffs it, being able to feel as if you're still there in his arms.
